Move to Mars

"I'm bout to move to Mars y'all/ the world a mess"
I didn't realize how blessed I was as a kid until I moved out on my own after college. And in that youth I listened to the likes of Goodie Mob, Outkast, and Pastor Troy just bobbing to the beat and reciting lyrics that were mere words to me. But now those lyrics carry weight that I couldn't comprehend in middle and high school. Pastor Troy's "Move to Mars" was one of those songs that was just words to a dope beat to me at 16 but after not hearing that song for years now the lyrics are an epiphany to me of social/politically charged song.

"I'm pissed but I can't pout; nothing change cause I'm mad."

What's the proper course of action if any and all consequences from actions (or reactions) taken out of anger won't bring you closer to (a perceived) justice? His answer: Move to Mars - there's no chance of finding what you're looking for in this present society on Earth. The Pastor goes more in depth on the track but that 1 bar summed up Troy's sentiments for the entire song.

You either "get it" or you don't and it took me until my mid 20's to understand where Troy was coming from at 19. I just had to live a little.

Church.
