Happy Birthday J!

Happy Birthday big homie! Your mom was showing me your baby pics last nite while wrapping your gift - think this is the 1st time I saw you with hair. She was worried you idolized Michael Jordan a lil too much when you shaved your head but you've since made her proud, not to mention introducing us lol! #GetAtMeDog!!!

Second Look: Breaking Bad

A few weeks ago I was wrapping up on a photoshoot when the model, her guest and I got into small talk.  We discussed everything from Dubstep [#whiteboykrunk] to the arts and eventually made it to favorite TV shows.  I was telling the two about www.SteveandJ.tv when they both suggested in unison that I take a look at Breaking Bad.

I heard the title before, but never made it past the general knowledge of the show's name.  I simply assumed it was about some outlaw riding around on a Harley, crackin skulls and dodging the po-po.  Man was I intrigued when the model told me it was about a school teacher who turned to a life of cooking crystal meth after learning he had late-stage lung cancer.  And the kicker is that he was still attempting to maintain his home life and profession while balancing out a meth cooking alter ego.

Getting Your Act Right For Black Friday

Now that the holidays are upon us, there are a few things that I simply must get off my chest regarding the largest shopping day of the year.  If you have been living under a rock for the last 100 years, I'll take a moment to educate you on Black Friday.

Americans usually have a few things to look forward to during the Thanksgiving holiday; Turkey, NFL Football, and having the following Friday off.  For those choosing to be proactive, this Friday off proves to be an excellent opportunity to eliminate the shopping stress associated with Christmas shopping.  At some point, retailers eventually figured this out and started seeking ways to attract customers by using significant price cuts, specials, bundles and freebies.

Movie Review: Skyfall

Double-O Seven returns to theaters with Skyfall in celebration of 50 years on the Silver Screen. So what more inopportune time for me to catch my first Bond flick? I know, I know. As much as I like action and beautiful women I never jumped for a Bond film.

Sorry Halle.

But the trailer for Skyfall hinted at my favorite story elements, like 'identity', and I must say Skyfall didn't let me down.

007, James Bond (Daniel Craig) is trying the recover a harddrive with the identities of multiple MI6 agents when the pursuit ends with Bond being assumed dead and declared K.I.A. After being off the grid for months, Bond resurfaces when an attack on the MI6 headquarters leaves 8 operative dead and 5 undercover agents outed via Youtube. Bond tracks down his foe from Turkey in Hong Kong which leads him to Silva (Javier Bardem), a former MI6 agent left for dead by M's (Judi Dench) orders at the hands of the Chinese.

Presidential Playlist

Election day has passed and America has spoken and it has chosen- President Obama will have four more years in the White House.  So with that said, I decided to observe all the finer details of the ensuing festivities following the re-election of President Obama and couldn't help but notice the musical selection being played before his address.

His supporters were given a nice dose of classic Motown tunes mixed with a few traditional soul celebration jams - very fitting for president who doesn't hide the fact he's black and even has a pretty cool walk to go with his swagg.  But in listening to the chosen soundtrack, I couldn't help but wonder what things would have been like had I been the First DJ for the re-election celebration.  I think my presidential play list would have been more like this:

Movie Review: Flight

Addiction is a condition that affects many families. Even though the pain that the addict's loved ones suffer cannot be taken lightly, the inner torture the addict themselves endure is a burden that sometimes goes untold.

Flight is the story of William "Whip" Whitaker (Denzel Washington), a functioning alcoholic pilot. After landing a doomed plane, the crash investigation threatens to reveal Whip's alcoholism so he must choose to voluntarily confront his addiction or be forced to by the federal investigation.

Flight puts you inside the psyche of an addict, revealing the helplessness and inner conflict of addiction. It didn't ask for your sympathy, but rather gave you a look at the human struggling with an addiction. As an addict, Whip lied about his addiction to everyone around him: His now ex-wife, son, job, and his new love interest, Nicole (Kelly Reilly). But Whip's blood cannot lie because his toxicology report after the crash is positive for alcohol and cocaine.
